VOLUNTEERING IS FUN!
Especially Downtown Salem . . .
Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer
for the Summer in the City Music and Wine Festival.
This is a first annual event and we are excited to
build a successful festival that will become a main
attraction in the Willamette Valley. We need your help
to build this community showstopper!
Remember, not only will this be a fun event; it is a
fund and food raiser for Marion Polk Food Share. Your
efforts will go for multiple causes. We guarantee a
good time!
Not sure what you can do? Dont worry we have a wide
variety of jobs and tasks. Here are some examples.
SET UP: August 8, 2008 midnight until we are done!
Tables and chair set up, tent needs and public area
seating
Vendor set up assistance/helps vendors with tent
location
Hanging signs for tent vendor identification
Banner set up and other signing set up needs
Moving set up debris to the dumpster
Assembly of recycle boxes and set up of trash
receptacles
Traffic coordinator
Miscellaneous needs for the family/kids court set up
Other unexpected and hand holding!
Power coordinator- works with event project manager
to ensure all vendors have working power and
troubleshoot issues
Tent set up for non rented tents
EVENT: Sat. Aug. 9th 12 PM to 10 PM and Aug 10th 10 AM
to 8 PM
Customer service ambassadors- give directions, etc.
Vendor hostesses
Portable sanitary facility monitor, audits
cleanliness and communicates needs to contractor.
(Its a tough job but someone needs to do it!) No
personal cleaning expected.
Collection and removal of garbage and recycling
containers- move full bags to main dumpster location
Street cleanliness auditor- directs cleaning crew
Family/kids court assistant helps problem solve and
run errands
Stage ambassador works with the music manager and
sound tech on needs and problem solving
Parking ambassador
Food vendor ambassador ensures vendors are in
compliance to garbage, water, etc.
Public seating coordinator ensures tables are kept
clean and area is orderly to ADA standards
Staffing lost and found and information booth
And more to come
POST EVENT: Aug. 10th 8 PM to as quick as we can
Collection of tables and chairs for pick up
Final collection of recycling and garbage to main
garbage container
Flatten all cardboard debris/recycle boxes and
deposit in main garbage container
Street debris clean up
Assist vendor take down
Traffic coordinator for vendor vehicle flow
Tent take down for non rented tents
Other unexpected contingencies
There will something for everyone the more the
merrier. Listen to the music of over 30 bands, shop
the sidewalk sales, view the car show, and have fun!!
